Cradle to Career Steering Committee
The Cradle to Career Steering Committee, made up of decision-makers from community agencies across the cradle-to-career continuum, work to promote data-driven decision-making, mobilize resources, build partnerships and provide essential support to drive real and lasting change. This committee is perfect for directors, managers or decision makers in an organization looking to make a significant impact.

First Things First Collaborative
First Things First is a dynamic initiative dedicated to fortifying the early childhood system in Summit County. Our mission is to ensure that every child has the opportunity to thrive, learn and succeed on their journey from birth to career. First Things First operates through three dedicated workgroups that collaborate to achieve this goal.
Kindergarten Readiness Network
This network is dedicated to increasing the number of children entering kindergarten ready to learn. By using data to guide our actions, we collaborate with early learning providers, educators and parents to implement best practices and targeted interventions, ensuring a smooth educational transition from preschool to kindergarten. Our network is organized into two work groups: Early Literacy and Quality Early Learning Networks.
Early Literacy Network
Only 48% of students in Summit County enter kindergarten ready to learn. This network is dedicated to improving the language and literacy skills of our youngest learners, recognizing these as crucial components for kindergarten readiness. The network helps identify areas for growth, implement effective solutions and collaborate with preschool centers, educators and parents to enhance early learning tools and practices.
Quality Early Learning Network
Join us in focusing on the Transition Skills Summary (TSS) Report, a valuable snapshot of a child’s readiness for kindergarten after preschool. The committee aims to increase the number of students with a completed TSS, enabling early identification of academic needs and setting a strong foundation for a successful start in kindergarten.
Third Grade Reading Network
This community of educators, parents and stakeholders aims to boost third grade reading proficiency in Summit County. The group is committed to empowering students with essential reading skills, providing evidence-based strategies and personalized intervention, and fostering a supportive ecosystem for every child’s success.
Amplifying Parent and Youth Voice
Summit County Youth Coalition (SCYC)
The Summit County Youth Coalition is dedicated to driving transformative change in education by amplifying and empowering student voices. The collaborative framework places students at the forefront, allowing them to shape education policies, practices, and decisions.
