Join Us to Discuss the Every Student Succeeds Act

Philanthropy Ohio, in partnership with the Ohio Department of Education, is hosting a series of regional conversations across the state where educators, funders, parents, students and community members can share thoughts and perspectives on the state’s plan to implement the federal Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA). Akron’s meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, Sept. 7.

Dr. Matthew Deevers to keynote Annual Educator Conference

GAR Foundation has announced Summit Education Initiative’s Dr. Matthew Deevers will be the keynote speaker during the Annual Education Conference on Oct. 6, 2016. In his talk, “Keep the Clay Wet: Promoting Growth for Yourself and Your Students,” Deevers will address the ways a culture of positive, persistent growth can dramatically improve outcomes and reduce achievement gaps and help everyone reshape their practices, like wet clay on a potter’s wheel. GAR Foundation Seeks Presenters for Annual Conference

GAR Foundation’s Annual Educator Conference, scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 6, 2016, brings together K-12 educators from Summit County to provide teachers and schools with innovative strategies for student engagement and success. For the 2016 conference, GAR Foundation is designing talks and sessions to focus on ways educators can reinvigorate their practice to drive student success. GAR Foundation is looking for presenters to share ways a successful program, practice or key issue related to classroom instruction can elevate teachers and drive student success.
