Residents in Summit and Medina counties are invited to engage in meaningful discussions about community issues Oct. 3 for On the Table Greater Akron. Akron Community Foundation officials announced at its July 9 annual meeting the local version of a national initiative supported by the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation. The goal is to engage people in the places they live, work and play in discussions about community issues that impact them. Participants are encouraged to host conversations at home, work, school and cafes, inviting colleagues and friends to take part in small-group discussions. On the Table is a one-of-a-kind initiative, organized by Akron Community Foundation, where thousands of diverse residents from all walks of life and socio-economic backgrounds gather to share a meal and discuss meaningful ideas to strengthen our community. It’s an opportunity to shape our region into a strong, vibrant, safe and dynamic place to live and work. Summit Education Initiative (SEI), an On the Table Greater Akron Super Host, will host a community conversation for its Ready High School Network and guests from Summit County high schools during a breakfast event on Tuesday, Oct. 3.
Funding from The Gertrude F. Orr Trust Advised Fund of Akron Community Foundation will support our organization and the work we do in Summit County moving forward.
