Stark State College provost and chief academic officer joins SEI’s Board
On June 7, Summit Education Initiative (SEI)’s Board of Directors gained one new member when the Board unanimously voted to accept the nomination of Dr. Lada Gibson-Shreve to join the Board.
As provost and chief academic officer at Stark State College, Dr. Gibson-Shreve provides leadership and strategic vision to all academic and student affairs functions of the college, including the
learning support services necessary to ensure the diverse populations of the college achieve student success. She leads Stark State’s curriculum review processes, advances student success initiatives, identifies technologies to enhance efficiency and develops operational plans to academic affairs.
Dr. Gibson-Shreve joined Stark State in 1997 as a coordinator and instructor. She quickly rose through the ranks from instructor to full professor, program coordinator to department chair and then dean of arts and sciences before accepting her current position as provost and chief academic officer. Drawing upon her many years of education leadership experience, Dr. Gibson-Shreve helps mitigate the broad range of challenges affecting students seeking postsecondary education at Stark State.
During her long tenure at Stark State, Dr. Gibson-Shreve has served more than 40 governance and leadership committees, presented and/or published over 35 articles and assisted with the successful completion of approximately 25 grants. She has also been involved with numerous community activities.
“We are very pleased to have Dr. Gibson-Shreve on our Board,” says SEI Executive Director Derran Wimer. “SEI has worked with her on various projects over the past several years and we know from firsthand experience the high quality of her work and engagement.”
