We Need Your Help this Dec. 11

The following is a message from Summit Education Initiative Executive Director Derran Wimer. It appears in the December 2017 “Align & Engage” e-newsletter.

This year we’ve shared several ways you may give back to Summit County organizations working with kids. Now is your chance to volunteer alongside us – our team here at Summit Education Initiative!

families using Key Steps to Reading Success kits

Akron families use Key Steps to Reading Success kits to help their children build reading skills.

We are looking for volunteers to help us assemble 5,500 Key Steps to Reading Success kits for kindergarten students in Akron. These kits will help the families of 550 students prepare their children for success in school over a 10-week program. We want our children to build better reading skills – but we cannot assemble these 5,500 kits alone!

You! Your friends, family members, co-workers – bring along a group with you to join the fun!

This is a fun way to get into the spirit of giving this holiday season, but most importantly, your hard work will ultimately benefit the lives of children in our local Akron communities.
